Parmalee’s hit single “Take My Name” has quickly taken country music by storm as fans continue to connect the tune to their real-life love stories.
The track, generally about finding that one true love you want to spend the rest of your life with, has continued to rise since its release, as loyal fans feature the song during proposals and weddings all across the country.
The highly anticipated music video was directed & edited by Taillight’s award-winning Director Shane Drake, who is known for directing some of music’s biggest stars including Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw, & Taylor Swift. After listening to the track, Drake really wanted to create something that made the viewer have a “feel good” essence centered around charm and simplicity.
“The Parmalee guys were such a fun group of dudes. We had a blast bringing this story to
life. They trusted my vision for the video and were fortunately at a place where they were willing to change things up a bit from their norm. I definitely look forward to the opportunity to work with them again,” says Drake.
Filmed just north of Nashville at Gallatin High School, the storyline follows a lifelong love story from the early years of middle school to high school, and into adulthood. The main character is played by Parmalee's frontman, Matt Thomas, with kids featured from the local school, an original 1968 Mustang Shelby GT 350, and lots of scenes of the band playing throughout. But be prepared, you won’t see any proposals.
“We wanted to pay tribute to the fans who have been on this journey with us since the beginning so in the music video you’ll see a story of love and loyalty unfold across the years—but don’t expect to see any weddings or proposals—the fan created-videos far exceed anything we could depict. We love watching them.” Matt Thomas of Parmalee told BBR Music Group.
