When the time arrived for agencies to begin planning their Super Bowl ads for 2023, their mission was clear: celebrities lead the creative. Indeed, dozens of A-list talent dotted the commercial breaks with AdWeek noting that eight of their Top 10 Super Bowl Commercials of 2023 starred celebrities.
Ben Affleck, Bradley Cooper, Will Ferrell and Anna Faris showed up to hawk Dunkin Donuts, Pepsi Zero Sugar, T-Mobile, General Motors and Avocados From Mexico, among other items. And throwback moments to hit television shows like Breaking Bad starring Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul in their original, iconic roles gave new life to spots for PopCorners and many more.
In fact, Variety noted that 'the allure of celebrity was so powerful this year that Mars Inc. benched its famous M&Ms spokes-candies in favor of a cartoonish ad led by Maya Rudolph and that famous faces even showed up for serious items such as Dexcom, a glucose monitoring system for diabetics that enlisted Nick Jonas.'
